Annual Work Day
In 2007, over 70 churches, businesses and organizations joined together to complete 80 tangible work projects throughout Los Angeles County, conducted 4 blood drives-collecting 174 units of blood (to date ShareFest has collected over 300 units of blood), completed 8 “Trashcan Can Make a Difference drives”(Partnering with Just One, provides for basic needs of those in shelters), mobilized over 2,200 volunteers. The Workday concept has been an on-going annual event since 2004. To date, ShareFest has completed over 200 projects throughout the community and no cost to the recipients contributing hundreds of thousands of dollars in monetary savings to the communities served.
The next annual workday is scheduled for April 26, 2008.
We hope to mobilize over 4,000 volunteers throughout our service area.
Work sites included:
Schools, community agencies/non-profits and seniors private residences in Los Angeles County. Local cities including Carson, Compton, El Segundo, Gardena, Harbor City, Hawthorne, Inglewood, Lawndale, Lennox, Lomita, Los Angeles, Palos Verdes, Redondo Beach, San Pedro, South Gate, Torrance and Westchester. |
