Annual Work Day
In 2008, more than 3,000 volunteers mobilized on April 26 as part of ShareFest's fifth annual workday.
In one day they completed 179 projects in 51 locations.
ShareFest worked closely with its array of partners and L.A. City to complete projects ranging from planting trees along Pacific Coast Highway and painting murals in the Los Cruces and Harbor Gateway neighborhoods to the beautification of schools throughout the South Bay.
To date, ShareFest has helped build healthy communites with more than 300 projects and has made an effort to put residents in control of worksites to encourage local leadership and lasting change.
The next annual workday is scheduled for Saturday May 2, 2009.
Work sites included:
Schools, community agencies/non-profits and seniors private residences in Los Angeles County. Local cities including Carson, Compton, El Segundo, Gardena, Harbor City, Hawthorne, Inglewood, Lawndale, Lennox, Lomita, Los Angeles, Palos Verdes, Redondo Beach, San Pedro, South Gate, Torrance and Westchester. |
