SUMMER YOUTH
LEADERSHIP ACADEMY

JULY 8 - AUGUST 2

Sharefest is excited to announce the launch of the new Summer Youth Leadership Academy. This is a 4-week summer program for middle school students from Dodson Middle School, Dana Middle School and Wilmington Middle School.

We began working with cohorts from these three schools through after-school programs earlier in 2019 as part of a vision to create relationships and support students starting in 7th grade. This allows Sharefest to engage with these students through middle school, high school, college and beyond.

Students must meet at least one of the following program requirements to join a cohort:

  • Qualify for free and reduced lunch
  • Been affected by gang violence
  • Be a first-generation U.S. citizen

Students who participate in the Summer Youth Leadership Academy will meet at their middle school and receive free transportation to San Pedro High School on a first come, first serve basis.

The Summer Schedule

Breakfast & Huddles
Each day starts with breakfast for the students. After the meal, leaders guide students in morning huddle activities to build relationships.

Courses & Activities
Each day students participate in activities designed to increase their ability to transform their own future and lead the communities they call home.

Lunch & Huddles
After a day of learning, students regroup with their huddles for a healthy lunch and discussion based on the day's curriculum.

SHAREFEST HAS MOVED MY STATE OF MIND

“As a six-year veteran of Sharefest, I can confidently say that Sharefest has moved my state of mind tremendously. I went from a shy boy to a talkative and friendly young man.”
